Key discrepancies to resolve with primary sources

⭐ The “Visa network 1980” vs “Mastercard 1982” problem

Central Bank of India’s own centenary history (cited by episteme.net.in PDF Modified.pdf) says:

CB “became a principal member of Mastercard in 1982 and affiliated to VISA International in 1991.”

This flatly contradicts the universally-repeated modern claim that Centralcard launched “on the Visa network” in 1980. Sources repeating Visa 1980: Mint (2025), cardinsider, cardpedia, Wikipedia, most popular articles. Source saying Mastercard 1982: CBI’s own centenary book. → Until someone reads the 1980 Business India / India Today India coverage found above, both claims are unverified from a primary-source standpoint.
